abstract A surface plot of the cupola viewed from above the dome. Superimposed is a virtual ideal sphere of the radius of 21.99m, with the middle point at the centre of the cupola. This sphere fits the data points of the cupola best. The sphere covers the inside colour points, so that what is visible as a coloured point represents the data points outside the ideal sphere. Blank areas in the cupola indicate data points inside the ideal sphere. The image visualises the systematic deformation of the dome in an easterly-westerly direction: all the data points lie outside the ideal sphere (and can be seen), while the absence of colours on the north-south axis indicates a deformation of the interior sphere
